The Monitor's Nathan Lambrecht receives national photojournalism award

March 24, 2009 - The National Press Photographers Association, a professional society dedicated to the advancement of photojournalism, honored Nathan Lambrecht from The Monitor in McAllen, Tex. with a First Place award in the Individual Audio Slideshow category for "Weslaco Bullriders - Life Lessons Learned Over 8 Seconds."

Lambrecht's slideshow was recognized as part of National Press Photographers Association's Best Of Photojournalism contest. Approximately 3,700 journalists from 147 countries submitted 53,000 still images, videos and web entries for this contest. He was honored among web sites of mainstream media organizations with less than 2.5 million unique page views per month.

Lambrecht has received numerous regional and national awards throughout his career, including a Star Photojournalist Of The Year honor by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors in 2007.
