Register photographer Michael Goulding wins honor

March 30, 2009 - Orange County Register photographer Michael Goulding received an honorable mention for Sports Photojournalist of the Year by the National Press Photographers Association, as part its international competition called The Best of Photojournalism 2009.

Goulding's portfolio included his coverage of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics and the NBA playoff games as well as stories close to home, such as a feature about a Los Alamitos wrestler with Down syndrome.

The 2009 competition included entries from 3,700 journalists from 147 countries, who submitted 53,000 still images, video and Web entries for the competition.
