Register reporter honored for investigation of public officials

April 2, 2009 - Reporter Jennifer Muir was honored in the 2008 Investigative Reporters and Editors Awards competition as a finalist for "The Protected," a story exposing the secret license plates used by California public officials that allow them to violate many traffic laws with impunity.

The annual IRE Awards recognize outstanding investigative work among newspapers, online, television and other media. Muir was honored in the "Large Newspapers" category.
