Lima News honored for outreach programs serving young readers

LIMA, Ohio - March 28, 2009 - The Lima News won a Young Reader Award in the Newspaper Association of America Foundation's annual competition. The awards recognize innovative ideas relating to Newspaper In Education (NIE) youth editorial programs.

Judges selected The Lima News for its creative outreach to students and schools, its measurable results and for its active efforts in raising community awareness of its NIE program.

The Lima News was honored among newspapers with circulation up to 60,000. It is one of only six newspapers and newspaper associations in the world to be recognized by this awards program.

The six winning NIE programs will be showcased on May 14-16 during the Foundation's 2009 Young Reader Conference in Arlington, Va.
