THE COMMUNITY

Location:
The Tribune Local Market, in the East Valley of Metropolitan Phoenix, is surrounded by beautiful mountains and enjoys incredible year-round weather.

Market:
Arizona is the second fastest-growing state in the nation, trailing only Nevada. Since 2000, Arizona's population has increased 23 percent. The Metropolitan Phoenix area population now has 4 million people, of which 1.6 million live in the Tribune Local Market. These residents represent the brightest, the hippest, and the wealthiest of Phoenix.

To better serve our readers and advertisers, our newspaper features a local news first format. Produced as separate local editions - serving Mesa-Tempe-Chandler, Scottsdale, Gilbert and the SanTan area - the Tribune brings readers news and advertising more specific to where they live. All of the local news content is now in the front section of the paper, followed by separate sections for national and world news, sports and our many weekly features. Additional free distribution of the front section of the newspaper allows advertisers to reach more potential customers.

Our West Valley publications, the Daily News-Sun and weekly Glendale Today, Peoria Today and Surprise Today newspapers serve the affluent consumers of these growing communities in Metropolitan Phoenix.

Things to do:
Our metro area is an outdoor lover's paradise, perfect for golf, bike riding, hiking, swimming and much more. The area is also home to many world-class resorts, nationally-ranked golf courses, parks and fine dining establishments. A wide-range of shopping can be experienced at any of the East Valley's shopping malls and specialty stores.

It is also a mecca for sports fans as one of the few cities with NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, WNBA, NHL, NASCAR, both PGA Tour and LPGA Tour golf tournaments, as well as major college sports at Arizona State University and Cactus League baseball spring training. Not to mention the 2007 Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona in the West Valley.
