• Bring in fresh and dried flowers. Fresh flowers bring life to any room. Dried flowers add color and variety to your home—and last a long time, too.
• Create a gallery wall of photos, prints, and paintings. You don’t need big art to fill a big wall. Hanging a collection of small- and medium-sized pieces will add color and interest to your home.
• Buy throw pillows and accent blankets. These are an easy way to dress up living rooms, family rooms, and bedrooms. They’re easy to switch out as the seasons change, too.
• Choose decorative storage. Attractive boxes, baskets, ottomans, and trunks are great ways to decorate your home and organize the possessions you want to keep handy.
• Get matching shower curtains and towels. Refreshing a bathroom is simple with a new shower curtain and towels. Consider adding new soap dispensers and containers, as well.
• Plant containers and gardens. June is a great month to get your garden, container garden, and window boxes finished so you can enjoy them all summer long.

• Potluck dinner. You don’t have to spend three days cooking to throw a party. Organize a potluck—be sure to have plates, utensils, and napkins handy—and invite a crowd.
• Taco bar. Don’t want to try your luck with a potluck? Everyone loves tacos, and a taco bar makes it simple for guests to choose the ingredients they like best.
• Wine and drink tasting. A wine tasting is another great way to work a house party into your busy schedule. There are many good, non-alcoholic wines, beers, and cocktails these days for your guests who don’t drink.
• Meat-and-cheese boards. Charcuterie plates and vegetable platters are an excellent complement to a drink-focused party and are easy to prepare.

• Clean flat surfaces, first. Tidying up counters, tables, dressers, and other flat surfaces is a good way to refresh your home.
• Focus on the kitchen and bathrooms, next. The rooms you use most can get cluttered the quickest. Cleaning them up will make a big difference.
• Embrace the 15-minute method. Spending a whole weekend cleaning your house is not fun. Start by cleaning out one drawer or cabinet a day, or look through a box that’s been in your closet forever.
• Use the four choices. Keep, sell, donate, or trash are your four choices when you are decluttering your home. Creating a bin for each can help you stay organized.
• Ask power questions. Have I worn these clothes in the past year? Have I used this item in the past year? Would I buy this again today? Does owning this make me happy? Questions like these can help you make decisions.

Easy Home Maintenance

• Clean your gutters and inspect the roof. Water can cause significant damage to your home. Keep your gutters clean and inspect your roof for obvious repairs you need to make. Having a professional roofer inspect your home is also a good idea.
• Check batteries on smoke detectors and the pressure on fire extinguishers. Fire is a threat to your home and your family. These are two easy and inexpensive ways to protect both.
• Clean the dryer vent. Lint build-up in your dryer vent can also be a fire hazard. Check and clean your vent regularly.
• Check your HVAC system and replace air filters. Before it gets hot, have your maintenance company inspect your air conditioning system. Replacing your air filters regularly is a great way to save on energy costs and extend the life of your system.
• Clean your refrigerator coils. When your coils get dusty, it reduces your refrigerator's efficiency and increases your energy costs.
